Dr. Joanne Feaster’s Healing Journey
Dr. Joanne Feaster is a board certified and licensed Naturopathic Physician offering general family practice medicine intended to meet all the primary health care needs of adolescents through mature adults. She is an active practitioner of comprehensive integrative medicine and is passionate about sharing her knowledge about the power of natural healing, Vis Medicatrix Naturae.
Dr. Feaster graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York, with a background in psychology and immunology, and graduated in 2004 as a Naturopathic Physician at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
In 2003, just as she was completing her clinical training in Naturopathic Oncology, Dr. Feaster was diagnosed with a very aggressive, invasive breast cancer. “A blessing in disguise” as she would later realize!
Dr. Feaster knew that the universe had placed her in the right place and at the right time and with some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate healers, both Naturopathic and Conventional. She was learning and applying herbal and mind/body medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, stress management, environmental medicine, spiritual practices which became her “medical tool box” or “road map” to self actualization and self healing.
She experienced firsthand, the healing power of herbal medicines to start her very poignant healing journey; one that would transform her life and life purpose in helping others to survive and thrive through what some would describe as a “marathon” of healing and personal tragedies. Every challenge is our personal “medicine” through which we learn to grow and to love ourselves again.
She became a doctor so that she could heal herself and then show others that they too can heal from cancer and other challenges. But, more importantly, to take action and personal responsibility to understand the nutritional, spiritual and emotional needs of the patient for prevention of disease and for a resurgence of the resilience of the human spirit, mind and body; forces within that are always dynamic and wanting to return to a natural, inborn constitution, or “Pakriti”.
